American Express Nonprofit Leadership Institute
Starting Artists Executive Director, Marisa Catalina Casey, was chosen as one of 24 participants in the Nonprofit Leadership Institute sponsored by the American Express Foundation and led by the Center for Creative Leadership.
In addition to hearing from leaders at American Express including CEO Kenneth Chenault, Marisa had the opportunity to learn from her fellow participants, leaders at nonprofit institutions such as the Harlem Children’s Zone, Teach for America, Hands On Network, and Junior Achievement.
Marisa returned from the week-long institute with fresh ideas and inspiration for leading Starting Artists in the new year. “It was an incredible opportunity to be introspective and to share ideas with my peers. I feel very fortunate to be counted among the 24 leaders from across the U.S. who participated. I’m looking forward to mentoring the next group, who will start April 2010.”
Other benefits to participating include access to a professional development fund and career coaching from a a Center for Creative Leadership faculty member. “David, my career coach, has already helped me to think through my goals for myself and for Starting Artists in the coming year. I’m just excited to get to work!” she explains.
Thank you to the American Express Foundation and the Center for Creative Leadership and congratulations to Marisa and to Starting Artists!
